Camera settings overview

Camera settings can be updated from your app or at https://www.yellowstone.ai/. Your camera will check in with the server for setting updates within 24 hours (much sooner if your Server Frequency Check is set to 30 minutes).  Pending changes will show as such in your app or command center.

Basic Settings
Motion Capture

For each trigger, take a picture, video, or both.

Motion Sensitivity

Highest sensitivity (9) will result in more pictures; we recommend beginning at the default sensitivity (7). If you are getting too many false triggers from branches, grasses, etc., you can lower the sensitivity accordingly. If you want the motion sensor off, set this to 0.

Multishot BurstFor each trigger, your camera can take and send up to 3 pictures in a burst, at one-second intervals. There is no extra cost for this.
Upload Frequency

This is the frequency at which the camera sends pictures to your phone.

  • Instant - pictures arrive within 10-30 seconds
  • Hourly - pictures are batched and uploaded every hour
  • Daily at a specific time (midnight, 6am, etc) - pictures are batched for 24 hours and then uploaded.
Time LapseIf ON, this will trigger regularly scheduled pictures/ videos in addition to motion pictures/ videos.
Time Lapse IntervalChoose how often you want scheduled pictures/ videos to be sent. For example, in situations with low activity, some people like a twice-a-day check-in, so they'll set this interval for 12 hours.
Advanced Settings
Motion DelayBy default, your camera will detect motion, take a picture, then send that picture, which usually takes about 10-30 seconds. After this is complete, it will begin looking for more motion. If you set a delay here, then after your camera sends a picture, it will wait to look for more motion. A 5-minute or 10-minute delay can be useful if your camera overlooks a feeder or other location where animals hang out for long periods of time.
Reduced Hours (HH:MM)

By default, your camera will be active 24-hours a day. However, certain situations, like construction site monitoring, call for reduced hours in which you'd like the camera to be active, such as 5:00PM to 6:00AM. Always set in military time, for example, 17:00-6:00. This allows the customer to receive pictures of after-hours activity, but avoid getting bombarded by pictures of construction activity all day long.

Server Check Frequency

The camera will check in with the server for settings updates and after sending each image. In addition, it will check in either:

  • Daily: camera checks for setting changes once a day (recommended if you do not plan to change settings often)
  • Every 30 minutes: camera checks for setting changes every 30 minutes - uses more power but allows for faster responses for setting updates and picture requests
Thumbnail Resolution

The resolution in which pictures are sent to your phone.

  • SD (standard definition)
  • SD+ (will send pictures that are clearer than SD; uses more data)

For HD (high definition), click on the thumbnail and then click "Request HD"; the HD picture will replace your SD/ SD+ picture within 24 hours (we don't charge extra for HD requests, nor do we limit your number of HD requests. But each request counts toward your allotted data)

Camera TimezoneChoose to display which timezone your camera timestamps will be in.
Information BarStamps the bottom of each picture with the date and time.
Display camera name on info bar

Will show the camera name at the bottom of each picture.

Request Image

Your camera will receive your command and send your picture the next time it checks in with our server (within 24 hours if server check frequency is set to Daily or within 30 minutes if it’s set to every 30 minutes).
