For the Y2 (one antenna) camera, you can request an image from your mobile app by clicking on the camera you'd like to receive the image from, then clicking on "Request Image." Your camera will receive your command and send your picture the next time it checks in with the server, which will likely be within 30 minutes but can take up to 24 hours, pending your camera settings.
If your picture requests are taking on the longer end, please click on the camera in question then click "Settings;" change "Server Check Frequency" from "Daily" to "Every 30 minutes." Allow 24 hours for this change to take effect, although usually it will occur much sooner than this.
If you are not receiving image requests at all, please reach out to support@yellowstone.ai.
For the Y1 (camera with two antennas), here are the most common causes for Quick Pic requests not sending:
- Incorrect settings: to enable instant quick pic requests, you'll need to update the "Web Control" setting to INSTANT, either on the camera (SETUP mode > MENU button > 4G section) or using the app while the camera is turned on (Cell Settings). Please note: TURNING WEB CONTROL TO INSTANT WILL DRAIN YOUR BATTERIES ABOUT 10X FASTER.
- Firmware: upgrading your camera's firmware will ensure that your Quick Pics get sent. To update your camera's firmware, visit this link.
- Connectivity Reset: turn your data plan to "Canceled" for between four and five minutes, then turn it back to your desired plan. Sometimes reinitiating a cellular connection can jump start your camera. This is an easy one to do remotely, possibly saving you a trip to your camera.
