If your camera isn't sending pictures, and we can't resolve it remotely, you'll need to visit your camera. We recommend bringing fresh batteries with you, just in case. Here are the steps we recommend taking while you're at your camera:
1. Turn camera to setup mode and check the status lights. All lights will blink, then turn solid green or yellow. Blinking green and yellow lights are fine, don't turn the camera off while one or more lights are blinking. If any of your lights turn red, please follow the instructions here.
If the LED lights don't illuminate, please check that the solar panel cable is plugged firmly into the bottom of the camera. Then replace your batteries/ battery pack and try again. If your batteries died faster than you'd expect, you can review tips to extend your battery life here.
2. Format your SD Card - You can format your SD card two different ways:
- Directly in the camera in setup mode, after all lights stop blinking, press and hold the FORMAT button for 6 seconds OR
- Via your Command Center app
Note: formatting your card will erase all images from your SD card. But any pictures that are in your command center will remain there.
3. Test Picture - After steps 1 and 2, we will take a test picture. While in setup mode, ensure that all four indicator lights are solid green or yellow. Then press the TEST button. The account light will blink while the image sends, then it will turn solid again. Check your app for your test picture. Then slide the camera to the on position.
4. Motion testing - If your test picture sends successfully, and you see it in the media page of your app, you can leave your camera in SETUP mode or turn the camera up to the ON position. It might take a few minutes for the camera before the camera is ready to look for motion the first time. Walk back and forth in front of the camera a few times to trigger a picture. The picture should arrive on your phone within 10-30 seconds after it gets taken (depending on signal strength). If you don't receive a motion picture, check your camera settings to ensure that:
- Motion Sensitivity is set to 7 or more
- Upload Frequency is set to Instant
- Reduced Hours is set to All Day
Then turn the camera off for 10 seconds and back to setup mode and repeat steps 3 and 4.
5. Mount - Sometimes, the camera will work fine, but the mount is preventing it from capturing motion effectively. Check out these tips to make sure your mount is optimal.
